Lactis

We assisted Lactis in securing the cage ladders of their silos, creating a work environment that is both compliant with regulations and risk-free. A bespoke project, designed to protect personnel and meet the highest standards of reliability.

Project Overview

The project involved securing the existing cage ladders on silos to ensure personnel protection during maintenance and inspection operations. The client’s primary objective was to upgrade the structures to current regulations, ensuring a safe working environment and minimizing the risk of falls from height—one of the leading causes of workplace injuries.

Work Phases

Preliminary Analysis and Risk Assessment

The project began with a thorough analysis and survey of the existing structures to identify critical points and high-risk areas. A key challenge was the need to integrate a single, continuous system along the entire length of the ladder, including the rest platforms, eliminating the need for operators to unhook. Leveraging our technical team’s expertise, we identified targeted solutions meeting the requirements of UNI EN 795 Type D, the specific standard for fall protection devices.

Bespoke Design and Manufacturing

Once the intervention strategy was defined, a detailed project was developed, including:

  • Development of technical intervention blueprints;
  • Custom executive drawings tailored to the client’s specific needs;
  • Production of personalized components to perfectly adapt to the existing ladders.

The result was a secure, robust system fully integrated with the client’s infrastructure.

Safety System Installation

The installation was carried out on-site, adhering to the highest safety standards and with maximum care to minimize impact on business operations. The system, based on a UNI EN 795 Type D fall arrest rail, was secured to the existing ladders to allow for the safe gliding of fall arrest trolleys. Thanks to the precision of our workmanship, every component was installed with care to ensure maximum long-term reliability.

Testing and Functional Verification

Upon completion of the installation, rigorous verification tests were performed to ensure the system functioned correctly. The fall arrest trolleys were inserted and subjected to sliding tests along the entire rail to confirm continuous and fluid movement, even at critical points. This phase validated the system and ensured full compliance with occupational safety regulations.

Conclusion

This intervention represents a significant improvement in personnel safety, demonstrating the importance of investing in technologically advanced and compliant solutions. Through this implementation, the client can rely on a safe and protected work environment, reducing the risk of accidents and enhancing corporate compliance with statutory requirements.
